I had the same problem with my Maytag Neptune washing machine. Not only that, they go through the spin cycle, but the water was seeping through the soil. After several times by certified Maytag repairmen, determines the cost of a new gearbox and gaskets is exceeded, the price of a new machine, so I have a new washing machine .... free thank my extended warranty. It was a disaster, to get it ..... approximately 3 weeks from beginning to end.
Sounds like a defective lid switch. If the device does not detect that the lid is closed, it will not be allowed to turn it over. This is a safety feature so that you do there check for the money and get your arm broken or torn.
