You must be under the supervision of a doctor if this medication and should be used short term as it is addictive.

GENERIC NAME: lorazepam
BRAND NAME: Ativan
Drug Class and Mechanism: Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine anti-anxiety, the same family that diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), flurazepam (Dalmane) and d others. Lorazepam and other benzodiazepines act by the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is a neurotransmitter, a chemical that nerves in the brain use to send messages to others. GABA inhibits the activity of most nerves in the brain, and it is believed that this excessive activity is what causes anxiety or other mental disorders. Since lorazepam faster from the blood away than most other benzodiazepines, there is less chance that lorazepam concentrations in blood reached high levels and become toxic. Lorazepam has fewer interactions with other drugs than most other benzodiazepines.

TIP:yes

Generics available: Yes

Presentation: Tablets (white): 0.5 mg and 1 mg, 2 mg

STORAGE: The tablets should be stored at room temperature.

Note: Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety disorders, a short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety or anxiety associated with depression. The efficacy of lorazepam or other benzodiazepines, have not been sufficiently tested for over 4 months treatment. Lorazepam has also proved effective in improving sleep in people suffering from insomnia, panic attacks, and as a complement (for example, when added to other medications) to prevent nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy.

Dosage: The dose of lorazepam is to be adapted to the needs of the patient. Planned dose used twice or three times a day, sometimes even for people with persistent anxiety or at bedtime for insomnia. Alternatively, lorazepam may be on an "as needed basis," the doctor asks the patient to take lorazepam, if he / she was worried required.

DRUGSINTERACTIONS: Lorazepam, and all benzodiazepines, interact with other drugs and medications that slow the brain processes such as alcohol, barbiturates and narcotics. There have been cases of marked sedation lorazepam in patients who were given the tranquilizer loxapine (loxitane), it is difficult to know whether a drug interaction at all, but the concern is justified.

PREGNANCY: Lorazepam and other benzodiazepines have been associated with fetal damage, including congenital malformations, combined taken in pregnant women in the first quarter. Lorazepam is best avoided if possible in the first quarter, and probably throughout pregnancy.

SIDE EFFECTS: The most commonly reported side effects of lorazepam are sedation combined (about 1 in 6), dizziness (1 in 15), weakness and instability. Other side effects include feelings of depression, confusion, headache and insomnia.

Like all benzodiazepiness, lorazepam can cause physical dependence. Terminate abruptly, therapy, after several months of daily treatment may be associated with a feeling of loss of self-esteem, anxiety and sleep disorders. If lorazepam is constantly producing for more than a few months down, stopping treatment abruptly in May seizures, tremors, muscle cramps, vomiting and / or sweat.

Hello! I'm sure others have said, that was lorazepam for those who have difficulty dealing with anxiety prescribed. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine family, which also help give people with epilepsy to control their seizures. In moderation, lorzapam okay. However, benzodiazepines are generally very addictive. Do not use if you are an addict or alcohol recovery. The real problem is that people can be from depression and / or anxiety suffer from self-medication with other drugs or alcohol. There is a real danger of an accidental overdose when drinking or taking other drugs tends to (legally or illegally) with lorzapam.

You might want to ask your doctor, rather than for a non-addictive tranquilizer.

Hope this helps. I will add some pages to be observed.

Cheers,
